Committees

Education Committee

The main goal of SA Helix's Education Committee is to make academic life as easy as possible. They organize "PubQuizzes" to test your knowledge for exams, or company visits to explore your future prospects.
Additionally, making the right decisions can be challenging, especially with so many options to choose from - courses, minors, internships, master's degrees, and career opportunities...
To achieve this goal, the Education Committee sometimes also organizes lectures, workshops, and excursions to companies. These events offer valuable insights and practical knowledge, enabling students to make well-informed choices about their academic and professional paths.

Activities/Sports Committee

The Activities Committee and Sports Committee (together, Sportivities) of SA Helix organize a series of events each year to engage and entertain our members. In recent years, we have organized activities such as laser tag, dinners, ice skating, foam parties, and movie afternoons. These events offer members the chance to socialize, relax, and have fun outside of their academic obligations.
Additionally, the committee organizes a Course Opening Party (COP) at the beginning of each academic period. Each COP has a unique theme, such as a onesie party, Valentine's party, or birthday party, ensuring a fresh and fun experience every time. These parties are open to all members – and we encourage everyone to join!
We are always open to new ideas and suggestions for activities. Do you have a creative idea for a future event? Please let us know! Your input helps us create enjoyable and memorable experiences for everyone in the association.

Well-being Committee

The well-being committee is dedicated to organizing activities that promote student well-being and raise awareness about mental and physical health within the SA Helix community. This committee prioritizes the holistic health of our members by hosting events that encourage relaxation, stress relief, and healthy living. By participating in the well-being committee, you contribute to creating a supportive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This committee plays a crucial role in ensuring that well-being remains a key focus for SA Helix.

Travel Committee

The SA Helix Travel Committee organizes an annual excursion trip for our members with the aim of creating unforgettable experiences. These trips are designed to explore the highlights of various cities. Above all, the emphasis is on having fun and bonding as a group.
In the past, we have visited exciting destinations such as Prague and Krakow, where members enjoyed sightseeing, cultural experiences, and educational visits. The Travel Committee ensures that each trip is unforgettable and filled with fun activities.

Gala Committee

Organizing a gala is a task full of responsibilities, but it is also an incredibly rewarding experience. The Gala Committee typically begins planning at the start of the academic year to ensure everything is perfect for the big night. They are responsible for choosing the perfect venue, finding a professional photographer to capture memorable moments, and booking a great musical act or other forms of entertainment to keep guests engaged. Sometimes the gala has a special theme, which requires unique decorations and a specific dress code, all of which are conceived and executed by the committee members. Through their meticulous efforts, the committee strives to organize an unforgettable evening full of elegance, fun, and lasting memories for all involved.

Introduction Week Committee

The introduction week committee is responsible for organizing a week full of fun and engaging activities to help first-year students get to know Maastricht and each other. This week is packed with events that encourage new students to bond, explore their new surroundings, and start their university experience on a positive note. The committee's efforts ensure that students feel welcome and integrated into the SA Helix community, making their transition to university life smooth and enjoyable.

Family Day Committee

The SA Helix Family Day Committee organizes the annual Family Day event, offering students a wonderful opportunity to share their academic experience with their families. This event includes various activities, such as an engaging lecture, a practical session, and a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) session. These activities are designed to give families insight into their loved ones' educational journey, making for an informative and enjoyable day.

Promo Committee

The Promo Committee is responsible for all promotional activities of SA Helix. This includes creating posters, giving lectures, distributing flyers, designing new merchandise, and maintaining the association's social media on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Being part of this committee is an excellent opportunity to showcase your creative talents to fellow students. By dedicating yourself to these activities, you help increase the visibility of SA Helix's events and initiatives, ensuring a vibrant and well-informed student community.

SEP

The Student Evaluation Panel (SEP) consists of 4 to 8 motivated students who want to improve their learning experience. There is one panel per study program and per year, for both master's and bachelor's programs. By providing feedback and advice, the SEP evaluates all study programs to ensure they meet high standards and remain relevant and engaging for all students. Their feedback contributes to the continuous improvement of the study programs and aligns with SA Helix's overall mission to maintain and enhance the quality of education at Maastricht University.
